Pain Emergencies and Urgent Situations

Severe pain is a medical emergency. So is a severe side effect. Call the doctor's office or clinic to get advice on what to do. If you cannot reach someone, go to the emergency room or call for an ambulance.

It is a pain emergency if the person has any of the following:

• Severe difficulty moving because of pain or if ability to move is severely limited
• A bone sticks out in an unnatural way, even if there is no pain
• Complaints of severe pain
